Gastonia is the seat of Gaston County, about twenty miles west of Charlotte on I-85. Its textile history shows in the mill-era houses near downtown and in the Loray Mill, now converted to lofts.
It is one of the more affordable markets in the region, with new construction on the south and east sides.
